Airtel introduces 'GSM PCO Phones'
Chennai, Aug 28: Aimed at providing increased convenience with anytime-anywhere connectivity, Airtel, India's leading mobile services provider today introduced the concept of ''GSM PCO Phones'' to its customers in Chennai.
With this new initiative, Airtel aims to bridge the gap in teledensity and provide greater convenience with anytime-anywhere connectivity to those who have not yet been touched by the telecom revolution, a company release here said.
Mr Mahesh Thampi, COO, Mobile Services, Chennai and Tamil Nadu, Bharti Airtel Limited said the new initiative was yet another step towards understanding needs of our specific consumer segments and providing them with this new improved solution.
"This demonstrates Airtel's commitment in making mobility truly affordable and touching the lives of many customers in rural Tamil Nadu," he said.
The GSM PCO Phones operates on Airtel GSM network and is available at an attractive price of Rs 1999 with built-in free talk time worth Rs 2250.
The recharge cards for the PCO have been also designed keeping in mind the usage and the operator can choose the recharge cards ranging from Rs 401 to Rs 1400 based on the potential in his area.
Moreover, the PCO phones would be equipped with Airtel GSM wireless connectivity along with additional phone features that includes internal battery with 2-4 hrs talk time and stand-by time of eight hrs along with an external adaptor cum charger.
