Mah: 3 killed in rain-related incidents

Nagpur, Aug 29: Three persons have been killed in three rain-related incidents in Buldhana district in Vidarbha region in Maharashtra.

According to police, two persons died after being struck by lightning while another was swept away by the swirling waters of a river yesterday.

Baburao Bhikaji Mapari (48), a farmer, died on the spot after being struck by lightning, when he took shelter under a tree in his field after it began to rain at Khaire village in Nandura tehsil of the district, police said.

Another farmer, Sanjay Pralhad Kasawe (30), died while on way to hospital after being struck by lightning when he was working in his field with his family at Narvel village in Malkapur tehsil in the district, police informed.

Elsewhere, Bhagwan Omkar Barde (32) was swept away in the Painganga river in Chikhali, when he was trying to locate his wife and children after they got separated from him in a market in the town, the police added.
