TN Govt to set up committee to probe rope car tragedy

Palani, Aug 27 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government will soon constitute a high-level technical committee to probe the rope car incident in Palani Hills yesterday, which left four dead and two seriously injured.

Informing this to the media after inspecting the accident site, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment (HR&CE) Minister K R Periyakaruppan said the committee would probe the cause of the tragedy and submit a report to the government.

After going through the report, the government would take necessary steps to improve safety measures of the rope car operation that has been temporarily suspended, Mr Periyakaruppan said adding that initial studies had revealed that the mishap had occurred due to technical snag.
