Surjewala hails Hooda's announcement on land acquisition

Chandigarh, Aug 27 (UNI) Haryana Transport Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala today hailed Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda's announcement to give Rs 10,000 per acre annually to farmers for 33 years in addition to compensation given for acquisition for their land.

In a statement issued here, Mr Randeep Singh Surjewala said this was a historical decision of the Haryana government which had been taken keeping in view for the welfare of the farmers of the state.

He said the government and the Congress were committed for welfare of the farming community.

He said the entire farming community of Haryana was indebted to the Chief Minister and they were also grateful to Congress pesident Sonia Gandhi.

He expresed the hope that other states would also follow the decision as Mr Hooda had set up an unique example by announcing an inovative scheme for the farmers.
