New Delhi, Aug 27 (UNI) The Supreme Court today issued notices to the CBI and the Bihar government on the bail application filed by RJD MP Rajiv Ranjan Yadav, alias Pappu Yadav, facing trial in the Ajit Sarkar murder case.

A bench comprising Justice S B Sinha and Justice H S Bedi issued the notices after hearing the counsel for the petitioner who contended that all the prosecution witnesses have been examined by the court and now no useful purpose will be served by keeping him in detention.

Pappu Yadav was shifted to Tihar jail in Delhi from Bihar after he was caught on camera while canvassing in the assembly election despite being in jail on the Supreme Court order.

He was also found throwing lavish parties for criminals and gangsters inside the jail in Bihar.

The Supreme Court had earlier issued a direction that no court in the country would entertain his bail application but the order was later modified and a blanket ban against his filing bail application was lifted.

The trial court was directed by the apex court to expedite the trial and try to conclude it expeditiously.
