Rupee ends marginally higher at 41.02/03 per USD

Indian
Rupee
today
ended
marginally
higher
at
Rs
41.02/03
per

Dollar,
registering
a
gain
of
four
paise
against
the
dollar
as
compared
to
the
previous
close
of
Rs
41.06/07
per
dollar
at
the
interbank
foreign
exchange
(forex)
market.
The Indian unit made a firm start at Rs 40.93/95 per dollar during the early day trade due to heavy inflows into local equities from overseas. It touched a low of 41.05/06 per dollar and a high of 40.89/90 per dollar during the course of trading, dealers said.
Forward primia for 6 months and one year also came down, as for 6th month it was quoted at 0.89 (1.25) per cent and one-year forward premia ended at 1.23 (1.46) per cent.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today fixed the reference rate higher at Rs 40.98 per US dollar. The reference rate was up by 20 paise, compared to previous day's rate of Rs 41.18 per USD.
Rupee has shown a mixed reaction against all the major currencies. It closed strong against Euro at 55.85/86 (55.87/88) per Euro. The local currency ended weaker against Pound Sterling, at 82.36/37 (82.31/32) per unit, and it stood firm against the Yen at 35.25/26 (35.43/44) per 100 unit.
