Allahabad, Aug 27 (UNI) Former general secretary of BJP K N Govindacharya here today said the opposition political parties were confused on Indo-US nuclear deal and adopting ''double standardS''.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Govindacharya said ''the opposition parties were against the deal on the one hand, while on the other not coming out openly.'' ''No major opposition party was ready to bring no-confidence motion against the UPA government in Parliament over the issue,'' he said.

Mr Govindacharya noted, ''At least the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) should bring no-confidence motion in the house and all the opposition parties should support it.'' He said country's nuclear capability has been developed indigenously.

Terming an ''indirect attempt'' by the US to force the country to sign Nuclear Proliferation Treaty (NPT), Mr Govindacharya said 'the deal was going to affect country's sovereignity and interest.'' Criticising the ''dual character'' of Left parties, he said on one hand they were criticising and opposing the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Rajasthan and Haryana, while on the other providing land to industrialists on cheap rates in West Bengal, under their rule.
