New Delhi, Aug 27 (UNI) The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has made special arrangements to cope with extra rush on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan tomorrow.

More Metro trains, extra staff and extra token counters would be made available to handle the expected rush, DMRC spokesperson Anuj Dyal said.

On Raksha Bandhan, the metro trains will start running at a peak frequency of four minutes from 0800 hours in the morning and this frequency would continue till 2030 hrs in the evening.

''Thus, trains will be available at four minutes interval on all three lines throughout the day, increasing the overall number of train trips by 75,'' Mr Dyal said.

Further, six extra trains, two on each line, would be kept on standby, which would be inducted depending upon requirement.

To handle the extra rush, additional Metro staff would be deployed at the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gates of Shahdara, Welcome, Seelampur, Shastri Park, Rithala, Indraprastha and Uttam Nagar (West) to manage the extra crowd and facilitate quick movement to passengers through the gates.

More token counters would also be opened at these stations depending upon need. Metro Officers and Station Managers have been advised to monitor the situation throughout the day and induct extra staff or provide help whenever required.

Additional maintenance facilities and maintenance gangs have been asked to be on standby at Shahdara, Welcome, Indraprastha, Rajiv Chowk, Rajouri Garden, Vishwavidyalay, Kashmere Gate and Rithala Metro stations to quickly attend to any repair or breakdown.
