Haryana CS urges NKC to have environment in its project

Chandigarh, Aug 27 (UNI) Haryana Chief Secretary Prem Prashant has asked the National Knowledge Commission (NKC) to include environment-friendly topics in its project.

In a meeting held here with the representatives of the NKC and senior officers of Haryana Government, Mr Prashant said that in the coming years, the importance of knowledge was going to be immense since the service industry was growing at the rate of 10 to 15 per cent in the state.

He talked in detail about various initiatives taken by the State in establishing Hotel Management, Engineering and Diploma courses institutes. Establishment of 'Education City' and 'Private Universities Bill would also boost the knowledge base in the State.

He appreciated the initiatives taken by NKC particularly in the field of modernisation of libraries and promotion of Mathematics and English education. He suggested cutting of wastage in the education system and reconsidering the concept of residential universities.

The NKC was set up by the Prime Minister in 2005 to help restructure knowledge related institutions and to meet challenges of the 21st century.
