Bulbs to be replaced by CFLs in govt buildings
Chandigarh, Aug 27 (UNI) Incandescent bulbs and T-12 and T-8 tube lights lights in all offices and buildings of the government, boards, corporations, educational institutions and technical institutions in Haryana will be replaced with electricity efficient compact fluorescent lamps and T-5 tube lights by January.
A DHBVN spokesman said the Haryana government had taken this decision with a view to give impetus to electricity conservation in the state during the "Save Electricity Year".
All traditional street lighting fixtures presently maintained by municipal corporations, councils, committees would be replaced with energy efficient street lighting.
The DHBVN and UHBVN would get the work of providing electricity efficient lighting executed in areas under control of municipal committees.
The municipal committees would conduct surveys in their areas and provide reports to DHBVN or UHBVN by September 15, 2007.
The street lights would be provided independent transformers with meters and timers to avoid unnecessary and inefficient use of street lights.
He said that DHBVN employees engaged in the Operation circle Sirsa have achieved distinction of declaring district Sirsa India's first CFL district.
About eight lakh CFLs had been installed to replace all the incandescent lamps. Consequently, the load on transmission and distribution system had decreased considerably saving expenditure in crores of rupees of the consumers.
