14 more Myanmarese poachers apprehended from Andaman Sea
Port Blair, Aug 27 (UNI) The Indian Coast Guard have apprehended 14 Myanmarese in an anti-poaching operation launched off the coast of Petrie Island.
''All the apprehended poachers have been handed over to the police for further legal proceedings,'' Coast Guard PRO Commandant Akshay Jain told UNI today.
''The joint air and sea operation was launched in response to an intelligence inputs yesterday by the Coast Guards patrolling the area,''said Commandant Jain.
''Coast Guard ship Kanaklata Barua maintained barrier patrol to prevent escape of poachers from the seaward side. Seven of the apprehended poachers were boarded onto a helicopter while others were kept under custody of the CG personnel,'' the PRO said.
