Patil praises the Judiciary
Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Aug 26 (UNI) The Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil today praised the Judiciary. saying that the Judicial system had helped strengthen democracy in the country.
Speaking at a function to mark the silver jubilee of the Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court here, Mr Patil said Judiciary in the country was independent.
He also assured all possible cooperation in strengthening the Judicial system to ensure speedy justice.
Supreme Court Judge, Justice S B Sinha, who presided over the function, urged the legal fraternity to be prepared for facing challenges and pointed out that foreign legal firms were waiting for an opportunity to take up assignments in the country.
He stressed the need for effective training to legal officers, while stressing the need for strengthening the justice delivery system.
Referring to the laws passed by Parliament and the state legislatures, he said ''they need to think about the implications and impact of the laws on the people before enacting them otherwise it will lead to escalation in the number of court cases.'' The Chief Justice of Bombay High Court, Justice Swatantra Kumar declared that the state would have 53 taluka courts. With this, all the tehsils would have courts.
He praised the Aurangabad Bar Association for cooperating in the drive to clear the long pending cases.
