High alert sounded in J'khand in view of CPI(Maoist) bandh
Ranchi, Aug 26 (UNI) Jharkhand police have sounded high alert in naxal-dominated areas in view of statewide bandh called by the CPI(Maoist) to protest the arrest of a naxal leader.
Police sources said state Director General of Police(DGP) Vishnu Dayal Ram directed all the Suprintendents of Police(SPs) to keep tab over all activities.
Special arrangements had been made in naxal-dominated areas and instructions had also been given to the SPs of Jamshedpur, Chaibasa and rural areas of the state capital.
An official report received here from Loherdega stated that buses did not ply on long routes. However, commercial establishements remained open in the district.
The agitation could not affect Bokaro, Hazaribagh, Dumka, Garwah and Giridih.
Meanwhile, ultras set ablaze a passenger bus after dragging out all passengers at Muhrenuma Bhuiyadi under Vasisthnagar Jori police station in Chatra district yesterday.
The bandh had been called to protest the arrest of an ultra identified as Nirbhaya from Chaibasa area.
