Gujjar Mahapanchayat warns Raje Government
Jhalawar, Aug 26 (UNI) A Gujjar 'Mahapanchayat' held today in Jhalra Patan town warned the Vasundhara Raje government that if it failed to pave way for ST status for Gujjars, the community would not allow the government to continue in office.
Addressing the largly attended congregation in the home constituency of Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, most of the community leaders including Congress MP Sachin Pilot, expelled BJP MLA Prahlad Gunjal and suspended BJP MLA Attar Singh Bhadana said their community was not in favour of allowing any more time to the State Government.
Congress MP Sachin Pilot said that if the State Government sent its proposal to the Centre favouring ST status to the community, he and other community leaders would undertake efforts to garner support from all political parties for effecting Constitutional Amendment for the purpose.
Legislator Gunjal reiterated that Gujjars of Jhalra Patan would not vote for Chief Minister Ms Raje in the next Assembly election.
Gujjar leader Col Kirodi Singh Bainsla assured that he would ensure timely implementation of the agreement signed between his action committee and the State Government in this regard. He said that Gujjar Reservation Action Committee would plan next phase of the agitation if the State Government failed to implement the agreement by the deadline of September 12.
