'General Alert' sounded in Capital, busy places under police radar
New Delhi, Aug 26 (UNI) A 'general alert' has been sounded in the capital in view of the Hyderabad blasts which claimed more than 40 lives and injured scores.
A senior police official told UNI that a 'general alert' has been sounded in Delhi after observing the situation for nearly 24 hrs following yesterday's blasts in Andhra capital Hyderabad.
''Though no specific threat inputs on Delhi have been received as of yet, still after taking into account all intelligence inputs and assessing the situation an alert has been sounded in the Capital.'' Extra vigil has been mounted at all busy and crowded places and vital installations in the Capital, and patrolling increased to instill a sense of security among the public, said the official.
''Airports, metro stations, railway stations, inter-state bus terminuses, busy market places, religious places and cinema halls have been specially put under the radar and forces reinforced at strategic locations.'' With festivals round the corner, forces were already on their guard, but with yesterday's incident additional 'halt-n-check' points been put in place and security posts at borders fortified to check entry of vehicles from neighbouring states, he added.
Delhi Police's top brass which went into a huddle yesterday after the twin blasts in Hyderabad had decided to 'wait-and-watch' before pressing the panic button lest undue panic be created during the festive season.
