Deve Gowda lays foundation stone for airport in Hassan

Hassan, Karnataka, Aug 26 (UNI) Former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) National President H D Deve Gowda today laid the foundation stone for construction of a full-fledged airport here.

Mr Gowda said the execution of the air terminal at a cost of Rs 1,200 crore would become the Asia's biggest airport.

The proposed airport to be completed by 2009, would house a Pilot Training College, repair section and other facilities needed for an International airport, he added.

He said as per the government guidelines compensation would be given to those whose land were acquired for the airport.
