Police to probe abduction and killing of minor girl in Kashmir

Srinagar, Aug 25 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir government has directed a senior police officer to investigate the abduction and subsequent killing of a ten-year-old girl in the city yesterday.

This information was given by health minister Mangat Ram Sharma in the Legislative Assembly this afternoon.

Earlier, the speaker Tara Chand has directed the government to make a statement on the incident after National Conference (NC) members raised the issue after the house assembled this morning.

Mr Sharma informed the house some people have been taken into custody for questioning.

He said Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) has been directed to inquire the entire incident and bring the culprits to book immediately.

Mr Sharma said a ten-year-old girl Sabrina went missing near her house at Ikhrajpora yesterday morning after she went to a shop.

However, after she did not returned, a massive search was launched by his relatives and police.

Later, her body was recovered from a house.

The incident sparked massive protests in the Ikhrajpora yesterday.

The speaker later adjourned the house to meet again on August 30 morning after four days recess to enable members to celebrate the Rakshabandan with their families.
