NRI donates Rs one crore for Old care centre in hometown

Phagwara, Aug 24 (UNI) In a noble gesture, a Phagwara-born NRI has announced to donate Rs One Crore for setting up a Senior Citizens Care Centre at his native town.

The US-based NRI Ramesh Sharma has come forwarded to provide financial help of Rs one Crore for the Centre proposed to be built over 11760 sq feet area in local industrial area by Phagwara Environment Association, Nagar Council President Malkiat Singh Ragbotra told UNI here.

He praised Mr Sharma's magnanimity and hoped that more people will come forward to extend help for such social causes.

After a unanimous resolution was passed in the general body meeting of the Nagar Council yesterday to build the Centre to care for old people, the resolution will now be sent to state Local Bodies Department seeking formal approval, he said.
