Mobile exhibition on First War of Independence
Chandigarh, Aug 25 (UNI) A mobile exhibition highlighting the events concerning the First War of Independence-1857 is on at some prominent places in Haryana.
Haryana Archives Department Deputy Director Rajwanti Maan said the exhibiton, currently on in Rohtak, also depicted a list of those ten freedom fighters to whom the British rulers considered as very dangerous.
The list includes the name of freedom fighter Ch Ranbir Singh who is the only surviving member of the Constituent Assembly and is the father of Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
Reserchers of Indian Council for Historical Research Ashfaq Ali and Razwan Alam said the orders of the then Military Commanders too had been displayed in the exhibition. The British had tried to minimise the impact of the ''revolt'' by terming it only an opposition by some constables.
In fact, all sections of the society were involved in this revolt and it was not confined only to constables. All those facts which were hidden by the British had been depicted in this exhibition, they added.
A state Government spokesman said this exhibition had been organised by Indian Council for Historical Research, Haryana Archives Department and Haryana Public Relations and Cultural Affairs Department to mark the 150th anniversary of the First War of Independence.
The exhibition amply reflected the significant role played by the brave people of Haryana in the First War of Independence, he added.
He said that the exhibition would be taken to some prominent places in the State to apprise the people about the significant role played by martyrs to make the country free and inspire the people to safeguard the unity and integrity of the country and infuse among them a sense of patriotism.
He said that this exhibition would be organised at Rewari from August 29 to September 1, at Hisar from September 4 to 7 and at Kurukshetra from September 9 to 14.
