Cong wants to be part of bridge building in peace process

Kohima, Aug 25 (UNI) The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) today expressed serious concern over the increasing inter-factional clashes among the underground outfits in the state and called for their end.

Talking to mediapersons at the Congress Bhavan here, AICC secretary Ranji Thomas, NPCC President Hokheto Sumi and the Leader of Opposition I. Imkong said that fratricidal killings were the barricade in the reconciliation process among the underground factions and the inter-factional clashes should be stopped and the reconciliation process should be started.

Mr Sumi claimed that the Congress would come to power in the next Assembly election in Nagaland and would start a new chapter of development for the benefit of the people. When asked about the reason of his claim, he said ''We have faith on the people and some of the leaders of the ruling Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) are likely to join the Congress party.'' He blamed the DAN Government for misusing the fund allocated for the state by the Centre. He also said that the fund was meant for the people, but it has not reached the people for their development.

When asked about the two-day-long ongoing general session of the NPCC, Mr Sumi said that the session was only to strengthen the party up to the grass root level and leaders of the party from all over the state have come to attend the session.

Mr Thomas appealed to the media to give proper publicity to the region and to remove 'alien attitude' of the people of the region.Mr Imkong said that about Rs one thousand crore was given by the Centre to Nagaland, but misuse of developmental funds have retarded the developmental activities in the state.
