CAIT intensifies drive against retail
New Delhi, Aug 25: Intensifying its drive against the foray of corporate retailers into retail sector, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) today launched its '14 Day Representation Drive Fortnight'.
Under the drive, the delegation will submit its charter to leaders of all national and regional political parties, including Congress, BJP and Left party, and will ask for a debate on the controversial issue in both Parliament and State Legislatures, a CAIT statement said.
CAIT has also called for an all party conference on Sepetember 12 for which invitation has been sent to all major political parties.
It met CPI General-Secretary A B Bardhan, submitting him a charter and demanded a White Paper from the Government stating advantages to retail trade, economy and revenue with entry of corporate houses in retail.
The charter also demanded formation of a national policy on retail trade and small and medium industries, the statement said.
Mr Bardhan extended full support to the traders.
