Green House Gas survey in Mumbai
Mumbai, Aug 25: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation will conduct a Green House Gas survey within the city to consider the ill-effects of global warming on account of emission of large quantum of gases and has floated a tender for the same.
The process to be undertaken by the BMC is in accordance to the practice followed in New York, Tokyo and other international cities which conduct these surveys on a regular basis.
Municipal Commissioner Jairaj Phatak told a press conference yesterday that the survey will be undertaken in the various wards of the city and will deal with the quantum of operations in appropriate units.
''The survey will include calculating the estimated green house gas generation per day and steps to reduce the footprint,'' Mr Phatak added.
Various sectors like transportation, construction, industrial, energy, waste, municipal and other sectors will be covered under the survey.
The time frame for the survey will be six months from the date of awarding the contract, Mr Phatak said.
