BJP women's wing launches 'rakhi' drive in border areas

Ahmedabad, Aug 25 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party Rashtriya Mahila Morcha, the women's wing of BJP, has launched a campaign to tie ''Rakhis'' to the jawans of Indian army and Border Security Force in the country.

''This for the first time we have launched this campaign on the Hindu festival of Rakshabandhan in the country. We are covering the borders of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, Kashmir and even the north eastern state of Manipur,'' Mahila Morcha general secretary Miraben Kawaria told reporters here today.

''In Gujarat, 35 women from the Morcha went to the border district of Kachch recently and tied Rakhis to the jawans of BSF,'' she said.

''It is a non-political move by our morcha. Its sole purpose is to lend moral support to the armed forces manning our country's borders,'' she added.
