Andaman Police apprehends more 12 foreign poachers

Port Blair, Aug 25 (UNI) Andaman and Nicobar Police apprehended 12 more foreign poachers from Landfall Island, an uninhabited Indian island situated at North Andaman Region.

Superintendent of Police of Andaman Ashok Chand told UNI today, "The anti-poaching team of Diglipur police station, while patrolling near Landfall Island, spotted a boat moving in suspiciously on Saturday night." "We intercepted the boat and apprehended 12 Myanmarese poachers," he added.

Police also apprehended an engine dinghy in which they were travelling along with the articles such as HSD Oil, food items and diving equipments.

"The foreign poachers are being brought here today for initiation of necessary legal action against them," Mr Chand said.

Earlier this week, Andaman Police team had apprehended seven more Myanmarese poachers from the same region.

Hundreds of poachers keep entering inside Andaman Waters throughout the year by getting attracted by rich marine wealth of these islands.
