Amrithananda mutt to give scholarships to children of farmers
Kollam, Kerala, Aug 25 (UNI) Matha Amrithanandamayi has said her mutt would provide monthly scholarships to 30,000 children of farmers living below the poverty line in Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and the Vidharbha region of Maharasthra.
Announcing this at a press conference at Amrithapuri, she said students in the 10-15 age group, studying in government or aided schools, would be selected for the scholarship. Sixty per cent of the scholarship was earmarked for Kerala.
She said 5,000 groups of destitute women would be imparted vocational training to start small or cottage industries for self-support.
