AIADMK criticises TN Congress for unleasing violence

Puducherry, Aug 25 (UNI) The Puducherry unit of AIADMK today criticised the Tamil Nadu Congress activists for unleasing violence near AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa's residence in Chennai yesterday.

Addressing a press conference here, AIADMK State Secretary A Anbazhagan MLA said Ms Jayalalithaa had only exercised her democratic rights by criticising Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Indo-US nuclear deal.

''Instead of countering her remarks in a democratic way, seeking apology from her through violence is undemocratic,'' he said.

Alleging that Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy was violating all norms in appointments to government departments, Mr Anbazhagan said 90 per cent of the appointments to government departments were done from Chief Minister's Thattanchavady constituency.

He alleged that 150 persons, appointed to Kamaraj government medical college through ''backdoor'' by the Chief Minister, could not draw their salary for the last two months as the Chief Secretary who is the Chairman of the medical college objected to it.

Now in a bid to regularise these employees and to make their position secure, the administration had sent interview calls to 3000 persons, Mr Anbazhagan alleged.

He said due to the absence of a permanent director for the education department, the schemes announced could not be implemented.

He said the schemes should be implemented through social welfare department.
