UP govt fined Rs 1.25 lakh
Lucknow, Aug 24 (UNI) Lucknow Bench of Allahbad High Court today fined the Uttar Pradesh government Rs 1.25 lakh, besides ordering for the transfer of all the policemen of Ramsanehighat police station in Barabanki to some remote area.
This order was passed by a division bench comprising Justices Allah Raham and Devi Prasad Singh on habeas corpus writ petitions filed by Siyaram alias Shukul and two others.
In its order, the HC observed that the human rights of people were still unsafe even after so many years of independence.
