Telphone subscribers increased 7.86 mln to reach 232.87 mln in Jul

New Delhi, Aug 24 (UNI) The total number of telephone subscribers has reached 232.87 million at the end of July 2007 as compared to 225.01 million in the previous month.

The overall tele-density has increased to 20.52 in July 2007 as compared to 19.86 in the last month.

In the wireless segment, 8.06 million subscribers have been added in July 2007 while 7.34 million subscribers were added in in the last month.

The total wireless subscribers (GSM, CDMA and WLL (F)) base is now at 192.98 million.

The wireline segment subscriber base stood at 39.89 million with a decline of 0.20 million in July 2007.

The total broadband (more than or equal to 256 Kbps download) in the country has reached 2.47 million by the end of July 2007 with addition of 0.05 million connections in this month.
