Surat autorickshaws oppose CNG buses, stay off the roads

Surat, Aug 24 (UNI) Autorickshaws remained off the roads here today folowing a strike by the operators who are opposing the permission granted to private CNG buses to ply.

The autorickshaw operators have alleged that by allowing the CNG buses to ply on Surat roads, their livelihood would be affected.

The strike today, however, evoked a mixed response. Autorickshaws were found operating in certain parts of the city. However, office-goers were, by and large, inconvenienced due to the unavailibility of the autorickshaws.
