Semi-final between Patiala and Jalandhar evenly poised

Patiala, Aug 24 (UNI) The semi-final match between host Patiala and Jalandhar is evenly poised in the Punjab Inter-District Under-22 cricket tournament being played here at the Dhruve Pandove Cricket Stadium.

Batting first, Jalandhar were all out for 225 in 84.1 overs on the opening day. Mandeep Singh scored a brilliant century (100). He hammered the formidable Patiala bowling attack, hitting eleven exquisite boundaries. Sumit Barara (40) and Gurdeep Bittu (23) were the other main scorers.

For Patiala, Ankur Jund bowled well to capture 3 wickets, conceding 52 runs, while Kunwar Raina took 2 for 15.

In reply, Patiala were 24 for 1 at close of play, losing the inform Kunwar Raina for 9. Ravi Inder Singh (9) and Rajwinder Singh (5) were unbeaten at draw of stumps.

Amrinder Singh bowled well to remove Kunwar Raina. Much would now depend on how the Patiala batsmen perform on the penultimate day of the match.
