Salman leaves for Mumbai before court verdict

Hyderabad, Aug 24 (UNI) Bollywood Actor Salman Khan whose appeal against five-year imprisonment in connection with the 1998 Chinkara Poaching Case was rejected by a Jodhpur Court had left for Mumbai from the city last night.

Salman was not in the court when the verdict was pronounced morning by the District and Sessions Court in Jodhpur.

According to sources here, Salman, who had been in the city for the last one week shooting for Producer Boney Kapoor's film, left for Mumbai at 2030 hrs.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Brijendra Kumar Jain had on April ten last year convicted Salman in the poaching case and sentenced him to five-year imprisonment.

The court had also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on him. Salman filed the present appeal against the verdict.

The case relates to the poaching of two Chinkara at Ujiyala Bhakhar near Ghoda farm on September 28, 1998 during the shooting of Sooraj Barjatya's movie 'Hum Saath Saath Hain'.
