Nerwa college to get science and IT subjects: CM

Shimla, Aug 24 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh assured the NSUI Nerwa college elected pannel of granting science and IT subjects to the college.

Chief Minister told the panel which called on him here today, that state government would be considering introduction of the science subjects in government degree college, Nerwa to facilitate students and develop scientific temperament besides introducing them to the emerging educational trends.

Mr Singh said the use of information technology in every field, especially in the education sector had emerged as the most vital ingredient, without which no education would be complete.

He said that the state government had started the computer literacy programme in the senior secondary schools and the same was being extended to every senior secondary school in a phased manner.

Chief Minister said the degree colleges would also be equipped with similar facilities so that while graduating the students could also practice use of information technology.

The state had emerged leader in the e-governance as majority of official functioning was being computerised, he added.
