MP's BJP regime symbol of anarchy: Cong

Indore, Aug 24 (UNI) Congress Spokesman Satyavrat Chaturvedi today lambasted Madhya Pradesh's Bharatiya Janata Party regime as a symbol of anarchy, corruption, insensitivity and reneging on promises.

''The situation is deteriorating over the past three years as administration is politicised and the officialdom helpless.

Those working honestly are being punished. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and Bajrang Dal are unbridled,'' he told journalists here.

Rural areas are sans power and roads are in a pathetic condition.

A famine-like situation prevails in several parts of Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh districts, Gwalior and Chambal divisions that are facing drought for three successive years, Mr Chaturvedi alleged while adding that had it not been for the National Employment Guarantee Scheme, starvation would have ensued.

''However, the state government turned Nelson's eye on these areas and no relief work was initiated. The conditions in flood-affected districts are worrisome. Traders are terrorised by extortion,'' he asserted.

The Congress leader challenged the state Civil Supplies Minister to an open debate while alleging that the regime lifted only about 50 per cent of foodgrain despite adequate allocation.

''My party will launch a major agitation against corruption and anarchy,'' he warned while admitting that the Congress organisation needed to be further strengthened.

Describing as baseless the reported differences of opinion between Congress General Secretary and former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh and the party's Guna MP Jyotiraditya Scindia, Mr Chaturvedi pointed out that the leader duo conducted a joint meeting.

Accusing the National Democratic Alliance of hypocrisy regarding the Palk Strait's Sethusamundaram Project, he informed that the erstwhile NDA government started the project.

''Earlier, it was fanning religious sentiment in the name of Ayodhya's Ram temple and, after it was exposed, it is raising issues that are without head or tail,'' Mr Chaturvedi added.
