Militant killed, jawan injured and one ultra surrender in J&K

Srinagar, Aug 24 (UNI) Security forces killed a militant of Harkat- ul-Mujahideen (HuM) and arrested one while another surrendered in Jammu and Kashmir overnight, a police spokesman said.

He said militants fired upon a security force patrol party at Wangipora in south Kashmir district of Shopian today. The fire was relaliated and in the fierce clash one jawan sustained injuries.

Militants, however, managed to escape, he said.

A militant of HuM was killed by security forces in an encounter at Satganga in the frontier district of Kupwara last night. One AK rifle, three magzines, 40 rounds of ammunition and four hand grenades were recovered from the slain militant.

Police today arrested a militant alongwith fake currency amounting to Rs 4500 at Pahalgam while one militant surrendered alongwith arms and ammunition before the police at Doda.
