Indian Bank signs agreement with Good Shephered College

Chennai, Aug 24 (UNI) Leading nationalised bank Indian Bank today entered into an agreement with Ooty-based Good Shephered College of Hotel Management to offer education loans for young aspirants wanting to pursue Bachelor's degree in International Business in Hotel and Tourism Management.

This unique course for hotel management was offered by Good Shephered College in academic partnership with Switzerland-based Cesar Ritz College.

Speaking at the press conference here, college managing trustee P C Thomas said ''this loan scheme will go a long way in promoting young talent and give them a platform to get the best training with us and Cesar Ritz.'' Dr Thomas said a student would be able to get 75 to 85 per cent finance of the total study expenses in India for two years and in Switzerland for the final year.

''Students will be able to avail education loans to the tune of Rs 15 lakh to Rs 17 lakh,'' he said, adding ''repayment of the loan will start only after three months of the course completion or getting employment, whichever is earlier.'' Indian Bank Chairman and MD Sundara Rajan pointed out that during last fiscal, Indian Bank had financed 31,141 students with Rs 325.25 crore. ''In Tamil Nadu alone, Rs 240.03 crore has been disbursed as education loan, benefitting 24,241 students,'' he said.
