Civil defence on search operation to find woman's body
Barrackpore, Aug 24 (UNI) A five member rescue team of the West Bengal civil defence is searching the Hooghly river near Manirampur Ghat here to find the body of a 58-year-old woman.
Police said Pushparani Dutta, mother of a medical officer of the N R S Medical College Hospital in Kolkata, accidently drowned last evening.
Some eye witnesses said the woman fell down from the jetty when she was leaning to collect Ganga water.
Some boatmen and a few local people immediately tried to rescue her but she was swept away by the strong current.
Incidentally, bodies of two teenagers who drowned in the river on August 5 remained untraced so far, police said.
