'Chak De India' fails to send Arya Menon's spirit soaring

Kolkata, Aug 24 (UNI) Real life may have given her reasons to smile as she got a chance to share screen space with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, but reel life was not magnanimous enough as her 'you blink and you miss it' role in the recently released SRK-starrer 'Chak De India' failed to whet her appetite for a more meaningful role.

Arya Menon, who essayed the role of Gul Iqbal in the recently released film 'Chak De India', said she was unsatisfied with her minuscule role in the film.

''Many of my scenes were deleted. I was initially not happy when I saw the movie, '' Arya said while talking to UNI.

There were some technical problems, she added.

Asked about the reactions of her close ones to the movie, she said, '' My parents and friends were unhappy, but they stood by me when I was down and out.

They, in fact, boosted my confidence. It is not the end of the world, I still have miles to go, '' she said.

The 19-year-old girl from Bangalore, who did Mass Communication with film studies as specialisation, played hockey at school level and after the film, it has become one of her favorite sports.

She also gushed about having bagged two films down south, but refused to give any further details as she had become ''very superstitious'' after the scissor fell on her role in 'Chak De'.

Talking about her experiences working with King Khan, Arya said it had been a very thrilling experience.

''Shah Rukh is a darling and a very good hockey player. He never made us feel that we were novices. His stubble in the movie is simply hot! '' she said.

''All 11 of us shared a good rapport and the six months of rigorous training taught us the lesson that name and fame are very difficult to achieve,'' she said.
