AIADMK stages demo against DMK's move to hike guideline value

Chennai, Aug 24 (UNI) The main opposition AIADMK today staged a demonstration across Tamil Nadu in protest against the DMK government's move to increase the guideline value while registering the lands.

In the city, the agitation was led by former Minister D Jayakumar.

Scores of AIADMK men and women participated in the agitation held in front of the Chennai Collectorate.

AIADMK North District secretary P K Sekar Babu, MLA and South District secretary V P Kalairajan addressed the party workers.

Carrying placards and party flags, the AIADMK activists shouted slogans denouncing the government for its reported decision to hike the guideline value and urged them not to burden the people by this move.

They also condemned the Congress party's move to lay siege to AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa's Poes garden residence and warned off serious repercussions.

The AIADMK leaders alleged that Chief Minister M Karunanidhi had instigated the Congress activists to lay siege to the AIADMK supremo's residence.
