11 killed, 7 injured in bus accident

Dehradun, Aug 24 (UNI) At least 11 people were killed and 7 others seriously injured when their bus fell into a deep gorge in Tehri district of Uttarakhand today.

According to the Disaster Management Centre and Tehri SP office, the bus of Garhwal Motor Owners Union with 18 passangers heading to Joshimath from Hardwar fell into a 200 metres deep gorge at Kodiyala at about 1230 hrs, instantly killing 11 passangers and seriously injuring 7 others. All the injured have been admitted to Himalayan Hospital, Jollygrant, police said.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Maj Gen (Retd) Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri expressed his condolence to the families of deceased and asked the district authority to provide financial assistance to them as per the norms.
