Two militants and brother of an ultra killed in Kashmir

Srinagar, Aug 23 (UNI) Two militants and brother of a released ultra were killed in the Kashmir valley overnight, officials here said today.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Kupwara, said Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and Rashtriya Rifles (RR) launched a joint operation at Chalwan Dar Mohalla in Lolab valley in north Kashmir after receiving information about the presence of militants there.

During the operation, an encounter took place in which two militants were killed. Two AK rifles, 7 magazines,212 rounds of ammunition and two wireless sets were recovered from the slain militants, he added.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police for north Kashmir B Srinivas said ''a group of two militants entered the house of a released ultra at Gujri Mohalla at Handwara and demanded dinner.'' After having their dinner, the militants took some food with them in a packet and killed the brother of the released ultra Abdul Majid Gujri.
