Trucks to give Lumsump tax: Transport Minister

Fatehgarh Sahib, Aug 23 (UNI) Punjab Transport Minister Master Mohan Lal today said that lumpsum tax would be taken from truck operators in the state.

Talking to media persons after presiding over function of Government Senior Secondary School, Khamano the minister said that presently transport department of the state was working positively and was depositing additional Rs 6 lakh daily in the state exchequer.

He said that directions have been given to officials to deal strictly with overloaded trucks to and buses and taxies plying without permit.

He said that his department is setting up a safety council, which would provide financial assistance at the time of accident and help relatives of the victims for expenses on treatment.

He said that the state government will bring a proposal in Punjab assembly to allot grant of Rs 50 lakh to every MLA for initiating development works.
