Tension prevails in college following students agitation

Puducherry, Aug 23 (UNI) Tension prevailed in the Pondicherry Engineering College Campus, as students and parents picketed the Counselling Centre of the Centralised Admission Committee when the second round of Counselling for admission to MBBS course was in progress today.

They resorted to agitation, objecting to the admission of the students at the Lakshminarayana Medical College here, stating that the first year students were yet to be allowed to write the University examination and hence, Counselling for the college should not be conducted. They also gheraoed the Pondicherry Engineering College Principal.

When a police team reached the spot, the agitators had an altercation with them, leading to their arrest. They were, however, released after 30 minutes.
