Sushma deplores Indian killings in Germany
New Delhi, Aug 23 (UNI) BJP member Sushma Swaraj today deplored the recent killings of eight Indians in Germany and said the government should take immediate steps to avoid such incidents in future.
The government should have called the German Ambassador and lodged a strong protest against the incident, she said during zero hour in Rajya Sabha.
''Even the External Affairs Minister could have phoned the German Chancellor, but nothing of this sort happened. There was a routine statement issued by the ministry deploring the incident,'' said Ms Swaraj.
Speaking on another matter, TDP leader R. Chandrasekhar Reddy said nearly two lakh Indians from Andhra Pradesh are languishing in the UAE and other Gulf countries. They have no valid documents to stay there or come back to India, he said.
Mr Reddy said the centre must ensure that they are provided facilities to return to their home state as soon as possible.
Minister for Overseas Indians Affairs Vayalar Ravi said the government is seized of the matter. About 42,000 out-passes and 25,000 passports have been issued so far, he said.
