Sonia to inaugurate a series of welfare programmes in AP
Hyderabad, Aug 23 (UNI) Congress President and United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi will launch ''Indirama Kranti Patham'' scheme and take part in a series of welfare programmes in Andhra Pradesh on September one.
After a review of housing, irrigation initiative and land acquisition by Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy with district officials through video conference, State Housing Minister B Satyanarayana told newspersons that Ms Gandhi would launch ''Indira Kranti Patham'' for urban women Self Help Groups in Eluru. The programme was aimed to create one lakh SHGs in urban areas, he added.
The Minister said Ms Gandhi would launch the second phase of Indirama programme 'Intinitiki Indiramma' in Kollipara in Guntur district and also inaugurate houses constructed under the 'Rajiv Griha Kalpa' scheme in Rajahmundry on that day.
House warming ceremony would be performed during 'Indirama Samvaralu'' from October two to 21 for the houses constructed during the first phase of Indirama programme, he said.
Earlier, the Chief Minister noted that only 42 per cent of more than 19 lakh houses taken up in the first phase of the programme had been so far completed and wanted the district collectors to expedite the completion of the remaining houses.
