Schoolgirl run over by truck, mob on rampage

Guwahati, Aug 23 (UNI) A class six student was run over by a speeding truck in Upper Assam's Jorhat today.

Police said the truck hit Amina Khatun, a student of DCB Gigls High School, when she was on way to school near the district transport office in the outskirts of Jorhat at around 0920 hours.

The girl died on the spot.

A mob later set the truck afire. Three policemen suffered burn injuries in the scuffle as utter chaos erupted in the place.

The driver of the truck was stated to be absconding.
