No move to reduce or waive stamp duty in Punjab
Chandigarh, Aug 23 (UNI) A spokesman of the Punjab Chief Minister today clarified that there was no immediate move to reduce or waive stamp duty.
In a statement issued here, a spokesman said that the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal had been quoted out of context in some newspapers in this regard.
He said that the Chief Minister had merely stated that reducing stamp duty ordinarily results in more revenue collection.
The Chief Minister had also said that ideally he would like to reduce the burden of taxation as much as is practically possible but this had to be matched with the financial imperatives for the development of the state, the spokesman added.
