NHRC notice to DU Vice Chancellor on sexual harassment case

New Delhi, Aug 23 (UNI) The National Human Rights Commission today issued notice to the Vice Chancellor of Delhi University, taking suo motu cognisance of a newspaper report relating to a complaint of sexual harassment against two University professors.

The notice has also been sent to the Secretary, Department of Education in the HRD ministry.

As per the report in ''The Hindu'' dated August 20, the DU's Apex Complaints Committee had submitted a report on the complaints of sexual harassment against Prof Gurcharan Singh Arshi and Prof Bidyut Chakravarty. The complaint also said that no action had been taken despite a lapse of nine months.
