Minor girl raped by neighbour

Barnala, Aug 23 (UNI) A minor girl was allegedly raped by a youth living in her neighbourhood in Kattu village of Dhanaula sub-division in Barnala district of Punjab, police said today.

Accused Kulwant (25) called the seventeen-and-a-half-year girl from the adjacent house to his medicine shop on some pretext last night and allegedly raped her after downing the shutter.

The villagers came to know about it and the shutter was forcibly opened in the presence of the Panchayat. However, the accused ran away immediately, giving a slip to the crowd.

Police registered a case against the absconding accused under Sections 363, 366 A and 376 of Cr P C after the girl, belonging to the Ramdasia community, was medically examined.
