Shillong, Aug 23 (UNI) The Meghalaya police has denied reports of ULFA setting up camps in the remote areas of Garo Hills, saying that the cadres only used it as a corridor.

''We have no information about the presence of any ULFA camps in Garo Hills,'' Meghalaya Police spokesman B L Buam told reporters last night.

Mr Buam was reacting to Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi's statement that the ULFA had set up camps in Garo Hills.

The police spokesman, however, admitted that cadres of the banned outfit and other militants criss-cross the unfenced Indo-Bangla border using the Purakhasia route through Phulbari and Tikrikilla areas in Garo Hills.

Mr Buam also did not rule out the possibility of ULFA having sympathisers and also temporary hideouts in Garo Hills.
