Machilipatnam, August, 24 (UNI) Fisheries Department Deputy Director B Suryaprakasa Rao today said about ten lakh metric tonnes of fish and prawns were exported from Krishna District in Andhra Pradesh during the financial year 2006-07.

Talking to UNI, he said this figure was equal to the last year's state level target. The state government had sanctioned Rs three crore under Chief Minister's Package to modernise the existing infrastructure in the district, he said.

Some more funds were expecting under this package in a phased manner, he added.

The developmental activities includes opening of new markets, community halls and distribution of ice boxes with 50 per cent subsidy, he said.

Three-dry fish storage centers would be set up at Nagayalanka, Machilipatnam, and Orlagonditippa, he said.
